“Hi hellen ilvu imicu” – Zimasa on WhatsApp

“Lord, may this child live in your presence.
May this child experience the abundance of your love.
May this child receive fullness of your grace.

Lord, remember this child as your servant’s own.”

Zimasa is one of our Zola youth. She moved away to Atlantis (a township about 2 hrs away) after she was abused by her father 2 years ago. Her father didn’t even go to jail, but he was outcast by the family. The incident inspired Helen and I to launch the ‘I’m Precious to Jesus Campaign.’ She always calls us on the phone despite the language barrier (she barely speaks English) and visits us every time she comes to the Strand area. Obviously, we hold her close to our hearts. Sadly, there is not much we can do for her in a practical way.  Also, we suspect she struggles with some learning disabilities.  In any case, she is a very lovely girl.  She visited us again during the break and I asked her about her church.  She said, “No hat in my church.”  When we are with her, she just smiles and we return the smile.  I am glad that we can be friends to her.  Even though she lives away, she will be an important part of our lives as long as we live.
