Ulilungisa (Righteous) Assembly no.1

There were already 5 men waiting for the others to arrive.  Everyone was just keeping it to themselves except occasional greetings.  When only men were invited to discuss a sensitive topic such as rape, the atmosphere is going to be awkward.  When Sakhile walked out of the hall with his shoulders shrugging, he said, “Gee, it feels like a waiting room at a doctor’s office in there.”

Everyone knew why they were there… to get answers to the questions they had about the campaign and how loving the enemy (the perpetrators) could solve the SA rape epidemic.  What they didn’t realize was that the answer to the problem was themselves.  They were the ones in the communities that had the desire to help.  They were the men who wanted to fight against rape and abuse, but didn’t know how.  Our purpose was simple… just to show them how and give hope by restoring their broken and discouraged hearts.

We named the gathering Ulilungisa (Righteous Men) Assembly.  The meetings that we hope to have are for these men who have the desire to make a difference.  To keep holding the meetings consistently and continually until we reach the critical mass to fight the problem with goodness and love instead of hatred and anger.  Then, we can reach out to the victimized children of God who are silenced and devastated in a meaningful way.

John 16:33  ”I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.”
